In Hindu philosophy, samskaras are considered to be deep energy impressions or imprints on the soul that are carried over from past lives and can influence one’s current life. These energy “blockages” or energy “residues” are created by emotional trauma in a past life, often in association with the death of the past life character. Samskaras are quite unconscious.
When the past life was traumatic, the individual is born into the current life with an energy samskara. Samskaras can manifest as mental and emotional patterns, habits, and tendencies that can impact one’s relationships, career, health, and overall well-being. The samskara always seeks resolution in this life, hence the repetitive behavior of the individual. For example; “She always chooses the same kind of guy” or “He always gets fired from his jobs” or obsessive behavior such as anorexia / bulimia, in spite of consciously knowing the dangers, one’s behavior is compelled toward it.
Past life regression is an approach that I have used to help resolve samskaras. By accessing memories of past lives, individuals gain insight into the root cause of their current issues or problems, which can help them to understand and resolve the samskara that is causing those issues.
For example, if someone is struggling with a deep fear of water, they may undergo past life regression and discover that they drowned in a past life. By understanding the root cause of their fear, by re-examining the relevant lifetime, they may be able to work through and release the associated samskara, and the fear may no longer have as strong a hold on them.
The process of past life regression can also help individuals to see patterns and themes that may be recurring across multiple past lives, which can provide insight into the deeper lessons and purpose of their current life. This can help individuals to gain a greater sense of clarity, purpose, and direction in their current life.
It is important to note that while past life regression may be helpful for some individuals, it is not a guaranteed solution for resolving samskaras or other issues. It is considered a complementary therapy and should be approached with an open mind and a willingness to explore one’s inner world. It is also important to work with a qualified and experienced therapist who can provide guidance and support throughout the process.
In conclusion, many of my clients swear that it was reliving the trauma in a past life, albeit, as an observer, that assisted them to reconcile or resolve the samskara, which in turn allowed them to move forward, in a healthier and more productive way in their current lives.
